Your Guide In Synthetic Consciousness

By Helen Cox

Numerous films through the years have been presenting about artificial intelligence. Mostly, their portrayals resulted to the imbalance that it could cause to the lives of normal humans. This gives surmountable reasons to every living person to fear the invention of such thing. But, scientists from this generation would like to create such ambitious project to find cures and ways to avoid degenerative diseases.

Two years from today, the actual invention of that sort of thing is possible. An article from a web page clearly states that experts from neuroscience have started experimenting synthetic consciousness. That is if they will finish it. From now, no person can actually talk about relationship results with this. Even though, some studies are now published that explains the affirmative and antagonistic outcomes from it.

The very first thing that must be considered is the ethical issues. For example, the problem in recognizing the rights of their living, owning a lot, and their intellectual property claims. Nobody has ever experienced talking to them because they are not yet alive. Which is why it has not been thoroughly discussed today.

Another thing that may happen, the argument on what aspects of consciousness might be needed. Formulation of this is the job of a theorist who can decipher what are those needed attributes for a robot. Five features have been introduced already by famous world teachers and scientists today. And for the perusal of everyone, these things are in here.

One, awareness. For anyone who experiences having cognition of his action, does this. This is not the only definition it has because they are related with consciousness. Three kinds of this include, agency, sensory motor and goal. These given kinds create differentiation in their functions and must also be adaptable to any situation if robots will have this feature.

Second, memory. As popular as it may seem, this is responsible to store conscious events in a person. That includes the complex system of learning, rehearsal and retrieval. The updating of the perceptual, transient episodic and procedural memories are explained in IDA model of cognition. The bionic being must have this to record anything that happens to him.

Third, learning. This is a necessity to the invented person. The conscious experience it gets is needed to represent and adopt to fresh or momentous events. If they would not have this, then the name itself is not given justice because he cannot think the way humans do. The AI should have evolved sensitivity when he encounters an unpredictable event.

Anticipation is the fourth. Predicting something in the future is a rated characteristic to experts. Evaluations being done and the act of selecting a draft from the current happening to the life of a bionic man be exhibited correctly. His decisions and decisions of other people to him has consequences that he should be able to identify. From this, he can be alerted to further unfortunate happening or yet, he can be able to convey a proper feeling for that situation.

Subjective experience comes fifth. This is also referred to as qualia in psychology. The senses must be properly utilized in recognizing something. When he eats an apple, he may remember the taste of it so that next time he can be able to rightly express his cognition of it. Also, it should be his basis in distinguishing other fruit taste. Computationalism and physicalism has an issue to solve here.
