A Review Of Ice Fishing Houses In Minnesota

By Timothy Stone

A good number of people usually go trawling during the summer when the weather is sunny. Other people prefer trawling during the winter when the weather is freezing. The anglers trawl by cutting holes in the ice and dropping their lines to catch the fish. Ice fishing houses in Minnesota are always available in winter and provide excellent services.

Frozen weather trawling is widely popular in Minnesota, and so many fishers from around the world, as well as the local ones, visit this state just to fish. This type of angling, however, has its own rules that have to be followed like the regular fishing. These regulations are formulated by the department of trawling in this state hence all people owning the angling shelters have to follow them to the latter.

This season is taken as part of a regular angling season, and it begins at different times in this state depending on the thickness of a glacier. The angling department has therefore set boundaries when the angling shelters must be removed from the glacier. This is to prevent the shelters from sinking especially when the glacier becomes too thin.

For instance, the Northern boundaries allow fishers to trawl until mid-March without fear while the fishermen in the southern boundary must move their shelters when March sets in. This gives the anglers in the North to have an extra advantage of trawling for additional two weeks. Hence, most anglers tend to select the northern part to trawl.

The rules of angling in glacier shelters are somewhat different from regular trawling. For instance, when anglers are trawling in this frozen water, they are allowed to put only two lines through the glacier. Also, they have to stay within 200 feet of the angling lines whenever they are angling. These lines must not be left unattended during any time of the day or night.

If the anglers are using a dark angling shelter, they are permitted to use only a single line. More so, any fish that is caught has to be placed immediately on the glacier or released to the lake. Thus, these regulations must be followed closely by any person wishing to fish, be it a foreigner or a local.

Winter angling is not complete without a shelter thus this is the main key of this kind of trawling. If the lake is large, many angling shelters can gather and form a village. This village must, however, follow all the rules as well as regulations of the state to make sure the shelters are safe for the anglers and there is the availability of fish all the time.

It is mandatory for all the angling shelters to have an address as well as a license number that is visible for easier identification. If you own an overnight shelter, it is a rule that it has a two inches strip made of the reflective material on the exterior part. To add on that these accommodations must not be less than ten feet apart.
