Always be truthful or tell the truth Regardless if you're a leader or just a member of a team at work, you should always tell the truth. To be honest, there is no such thing as "the truth" which is to be told at work. The last thing you would want is sounding like you are trying to hide something from your colleagues and not telling some details which may be important to some people. In case you lie about something, you'll soon have a hard time patching that lie but if you tell the truth in the first place then you'll have no worries. Furthermore, it is undeniable admirable to see someone who is honest and this gesture will simply make friends out of people.

Do what benefits others

You also need to do what's for the benefit of others not just yourself if you are looking to establish trust within the workplace whether you're a leader or just a member of the staff or workers. Helping others as well as doing good things which benefits everyone then becomes a habit upon continued practice - it then becomes innate within you. Either you're a boss or a member of the team; you should always work towards the benefit of everyone. If you do, you'll automatically earn their trust.

Be consistent

One more thing that is expected with you as a worker and especially as a leader is that you become consistent with everyone. Looking down on others is a no-no and you shouldn't also have VIP's on your list when it comes to people in the workplace - your respect to others should be consistent. Every decision you should make as a leader should benefit everyone and not just a few or just the people you know or are close with. Should you be treating everyone equal you'll be admired by your colleagues and it is there when you can earn their trust.

Motivate and help others

Supporting or helping others can likewise be a building block towards earning trust among your colleagues. Helping or supporting others is a genuine act of kindness which instantly enables others to feel close to you thus making them also trust you. Being interested to help and support others would simply translate to your concern and care to others. Not only can you build trust if you help and support others, you also gain friends.
