The Purpose Of Conference Language Translator In Conference Meetings

By Kevin Green

Interpreting or interpretation is an oral translation of a speech or a sign of one language into another. The study of any theories of application and description for translation and interpretation is called translation studies. The person who will convert the expression or thought of a language to any language comparable or has the same meaning with it is called as an interpreter. The interpreter will interprete either simultaneously or consecutively, like for example if the speaker pauses every after two sentences.

One main goal of the interpreters is to convey all of the needed information, register, tone, and elements of messages in any intention and feeling given by a speaker. Mostly, written speeches and lectures are already provided with pre translated texts. Interpretation involves many different types. The conference language translator often is a person who translates the used languages in meetings or conferences either consecutively or simultaneously.

The translation that happens in most conferences is divided in 2 markets. These are institutional and private. International institutions usually hold the multilingual meetings that may involve any types of foreign conversations. While local private markets hold the bilingual meetings.

Another type of interpreting are legal, judicial, or court where legal proceedings usually happens such as in the courts of justice or in administrative tribunals. Legal interpretation can be a translation of the testimony of witnesses and the translation of other proceedings through the means of either one or more people.

Everyone has the right to using an interpreter. This is based on the fundamental rules of the court. It means that this fundamental rule is being guaranteed to any fundamental law in the justice system, rights declaration, highest courts that set the precedents, and national constitutions. A failed interpretation or an incompetent one would possibly lead to mistrials.

The escort interpreter will be the one to accompany or escort a certain person or a group of people usually in visits, tours, interviews, or meetings. Community interpreting or a public sector is one other type which often occurs in social, health, welfare services, environmental health, local government, legal, education, and housing fields. The factors that would more likely affect languages are social surroundings, emotional content, relationship between participants, stress, and responsibilities of an interpreter.

A medical interpreting is consists of the communication among the healthcare personnel and the patients, and as well as their families. There are some cases where in some medical employees who have the ability to be multilingual can work as part time members in their language banks. Most medical interpreters should have knowledge on medical terminologies and procedures.

Interpreters of a sign language often serve as guides to individuals who are mute and deaf. This will occur when a speaker will speak and an interpreter renders those spoken languages to sign languages. And it may be done in reverse as well where a mute individual does sign languages which are interpreted orally.

Media interpretation will occur usually on televisions such as in live or taped interviews of sportsmen, musicians, artists, political figures, and businessmen, and also in press conferences. Interpreters will just sit down inside a sound proof booth where there is a monitor. All equipment should be checked before the recording.
