Stand out. Different books tell different stories. Apparently, some of them are too mundane and ordinary that readers can easily predict what will happen. The last thing you want to happen is to disappoint your fans, so invest more effort and energy in bringing something unusual.

Above all, you have to enjoy. Fun and enjoyment are part of the package as an author. When you love your work and are happy about it, you might not consider it as a job anymore. In fact, it could motivate you to do better and lead a happier life and career ahead.
